  2. Epigraphic and modern languages, methodological issues.
  3. Acquisitions of documents.
  4. Early and later decipherments.
  5. Introducing the writing systems: from logo-syllabic to pseudo-hieroglyphic and linear writing, abjad and abugida.

Taught by Eleonora Cussini, the course provides an overview of ancient and modern Semitic languages, their writing systems, and key types of textual sources, while also addressing methodological issues, language classification, and basic elements of phonology and morphology.
