Fabian Lothar Walter Reiter
Associate Professor Department of History and Cultures Academic discipline: FICP-01/C Papyrology
Former curator of the Berlin Papyrus Collection (2006–2014) and professor for papyrology at the university of Trier (2014–2018), Fabian Reiter has been appointed as an associate professor at the University of Bologna on October 31, 2018. His main research interests concern Papyrology, Ancient History and Philology. His work is focused in particular on aspects of the administrative, social and cultural history of Ancient Egypt in the Ptolemaic, Roman and Byzantine periods. He is also interested in ancient lexicography, a discipline which profits a great deal from papyrological documents. Furthermore, he is a passionate editor of literary, semi-literary and documentary papyri and ostraca. Currently he is working on an edition of a major group of Ptolemaic and Roman ostraca which came to light during the recent French-Italian excavations in the ancient Egyptian village of Tebtynis.
