Overview

The Ostia Marina Project was born in 2007 as part of an agreement stipulated between the Department of Archeology of the University of Bologna and the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities on the initiative of Massimiliano David. In that year the first archaeological exploration of the Porta Marina area was developed and a first documentation and study campaign was launched in the archives of the Archaeological Superintendency of Ostia Antica. Later the researches spread throughout the suburb of the city with the discovery of the Terme del Sileno, the Caseggiato delle due scale, the Terme dello scheletro, the Caupona of the god Pan and the Mithraeum of colored marble. New investigations, with completely new results, have been conducted on the Baths of Marciana and the Baths of Musiciolus.
