Permission for Archaeological Excavations

Permission for Archaeological Excavations

Starting from January 2025, the following will apply to the personnel of the University of Bologna belonging to the Department of History and Cultures (DISCI), structured and non-structured, equated to it pursuant to art. 2 of Legislative Decree 81/08 (i.e. students), who must take part in practical exercises (curricular and extra-curricular) at archaeological excavation sites:

  • They will no longer have to be in possession of a permission issued by the university's competent doctor.
  • Since they do NOT fall within the categories of workers in which tetanus vaccination is compulsory (Law no. 292 of 5 March 1963, Presidential Decree no. 1301 of 7 September 1965, Law no. 419 of 20 March 1968, Ministerial Decree of 22 March 1975, Ministerial Decree of 16 September 1975), tetanus vaccination will NOT be compulsory but recommended.

The vaccination certificate can be obtained in the two ways listed below:

  • for those resident in the Emilia-Romagna Region, this certificate can be downloaded from the Electronic Health File;
  • otherwise it can be requested from the Health Registry offices of the municipality of residence.

Currently in Italy, for the tetanus vaccine, booster shots are recommended every 10 years.

The tetanus vaccination booster can be obtained from your general practitioner or from the public health clinics of your ASL (local health authority) of residence.

This new procedure replaces the previous one in its entirety.
